Shopping in Plymouth

Streets radiating from the Sundial, such as Cornwall Street, New George Street, and Armada Way, are full of department stores and high-street retailers. The Piazza is a great place to take a shopping break. There are a number of coffee shops and cafes, with a giant screen showing regular news bulletins as well as sporting and cultural events.

Plymouth Transport Links

Plymouth has a ferry port with a number of different services. Whether travelling by foot or car, you can hop aboard and travel to various Cornish destinations, as well as France and Spain.

Plymouth has one central rail station just a short walk from the city centre. There are some smaller local rail stations in Plymouth, including Devonport, Keyham and St Budeaux, but services for these are generally less regular than the main station.

There is a night service running between Penzance, Plymouth and London for those wishing to sleep through the majority of their journey to London Paddington. There are a total of 16 daily services from Plymouth to London (Monday to Friday) and vice versa. The journey time is 3 hours and 7 minutes.

Cross Country run train services from Plymouth to Bristol, Birmingham, the East Midlands, Newcastle and Scotland. Afternoon services extend to Manchester and Leeds. Bristol, Wales and Cornwall are all easily accessible by train from Plymouth.

Plymouth has a bus station which also acts as a coach terminus National Express services. Coaches from London to Plymouth take 5 hours 15 minutes on the fastest service. There are a multitude of local bus routes, with some adjoining other neighbouring towns.
