Moving to Leeds

Leeds has always been one of the most popular places to live in the UK and is renowned as a vibrant city. Whether you are a student, business professional or family, the different areas that make up Leeds offer different styles of property and living. Leeds may be one of the biggest cities in the UK but it also one of the greenest, with 65% of the metropolitan district designated as green space. Furthermore, the picturesque Yorkshire Dales are less than 20 miles away. With excellent transport links and shopping also, residents of Leeds can strike the perfect balance between urban and rural living if they wish.

Popular with students and young professionals is Headingley. The streets are lined with restaurants and bars, and access to the city centre and all university campuses is quick and easy. Due to housing a younger population Headingley has a fun atmosphere which is only enhanced by the fancy dress Otley run.

If you want a laid-back area with a village-like feel Chapel Allerton may be the place to call home. It is one of the city’s trendiest locations and tends to be where businessmen and women, as well as those with families, set up home. If you want a community feel, designer bars, quirky pubs and independent retailers, Chapel Allerton is the place to be.

Both Hyde Park and Woodhouse areas are popular with students. Lively bars, restaurants and cafes attract the younger crowd and Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan can be walked to easily from both areas. Properties in Woodhouse tend to be cheaper than that of Bohemian Hyde Park.

If you seek an area buoyant with rental opportunities and strong transport links, a look into Horsforth property may be an idea. Popular with young families, particularly those with members who work in the city centre, Horsforth boasts an enviable location. It has its own train station with a line running direct to Leeds, is nestled on the Ring Road, and is served by several major bus routes.

Other popular places to live in Leeds include quaint Yeadon, affluent Alwoodley and countryside-rich Roundhay.

Leeds City Centre Transport Links

Unlike other city centres, driving around Leeds is relatively straight forward outside of rush hour. The area is served well by A roads and the M621 and M1 are nearby.

Leeds railway station is the mainline railway station serving the city centre. It has a huge 17 platforms and trains travel to the likes of London Kings Cross, London St Pancras, Manchester, Blackpool, Carlisle, Sheffield, York, Huddersfield, Bradford and Doncaster.
