Skitpon is a popular residential town set amongst beautiful countryside. The town retains much of its history, with the wonderfully preserved medieval castle at the heart. Locals of Skipton regularly head to the great pubs and restaurants, as well as the two theatres that put on regular plays, live music, and exhibitions.
At the heart of traditional Thirsk is the large medieval square which hosts a twice weekly market. It is home to the volunteer-run Ritz cinema, one of Britain’s oldest cinemas, which first opened in 1912. It is a popular and vibrant town with a fantastic community spirit and families have lived in Thirsk for generations.
You cannot move to North Yorkshire without considering York. Heralded as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, York has many attractions, fantastic schools, and a thriving economy. Transport links are fantastic and the city lies just 20 miles west of Leeds and 40 miles from the East Coast.

The A1(M) runs through the heart of North Yorkshire meaning that despite the rural nature of the county, you are well connected to the vibrant hubs of Darlington, Leeds, and Harrogate is needed. Other motorways within the county are the A66 near Darlington and a stretch of the M62 motorway close to Eggborough. Smaller trunk routes include the A168/A19, A64, A66 and A174 roads.
There are countless railway stations throughout North Yorkshire but York, by far, is the best served. It boasts an impressive 11 platforms and direct services to London St Pancras, Scotland, Cornwall, and the south coast, as well as a regional and local train stations.
Nearby airports include Durham Tees Valley, Newcastle, Robin Hood, Doncaster, Sheffield and Leeds Bradford.
