Moving to Enfield
If you are moving to Enfield, you will find that, as it is on the outskirts of London, it is an extremely popular location for commuters who work in the city but want a bit more space. Being in the outer Zone 5 of the Transport for London fare zones, the borough has fantastic transport links with the centre of London.
Enfield has an attractive town centre, and is an ever-growing popular town and borough for those looking to move within London and not be overtaken by the busy life of London. Enfield has some beautiful rural landscapes with over 900 hectares of parks and open spaces, promoting a more laid-back life, combined with the escapism of the nearby countryside, and is considered a family-friendly town with a village feel.
Property prices are still at a premium though, due to the attractive London postcode, and the array of period properties, a combination of period Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian properties, alongside more traditional affordable homes. With such a variation in the properties available, there is distinct variation in property prices. Like the rest of London, the property market in Enfield has witnessed a period sustained growth in property prices across the borough.
With the distinct variation in the size of houses, there is a considerable price between detached, semi-detached and traditional terraced housing, depending on size and location in the borough.
Schools in Enfield
Enfield offers a good level of education from both primary and secondary schools, with many ‘outstanding’ and ‘good’ rated schools, including; Kingfisher Hall, Highfield and Eversley. Enfield county school for girls and Ark John Keats Academy are amongst the top rated for secondary students. For those looking for independent schools, St John’s Preparatory and Senior School and Freshsteps independent School are both ‘outstanding’.
Enfield Transport Links
One of the most important factors for anyone who is looking to live or move in London is transport links. Due to its location on the outskirts of London, Enfield has three National Rail and Mainline stations; Enfield Chase, Enfield Town, Enfield Chase and Enfield Lock, connecting commuters with London Liverpool Street, Stratford and Moorgate. Alongside this, there is access into Central London via four tube stations: Arnos Grove (Piccadilly Line), Cockfosters (Piccadilly Line), Oakwood (Piccadilly Line) and Southgate Tube Station (Piccadilly Line).
The main bus routes into other areas of London from Enfield include services 191 (Ponders End), 192 (Tottenham Hale), 121, 231 and 329 (all terminating in Wood Green). 121 takes passengers to Enfield Lock, the 307 to Barnet, and 313 to Potters Bar. Service 313 provides access to East London, terminating at Chingford station.
