About Barnet
Barnet in North West London faces the City of London to the south and the rolling hills of the Hertfordshire countryside in the north.
Barnet does attract the seriously wealthy, with mansions selling for £10 million and Ferraris and Maseratis prowling the streets. However, there are properties to suit all budgets in Barnet, and many people champion the area for feeling like a countryside town, whilst still having access to two tube stations and a National Rail station.
Moving to Barnet
There are some serious properties in Barnet, particularly mansions in Hadley, Hadley Green and Monken Hadley. If you branch into Totteridge, you are in oligarch-territory. There are also expansive properties in Arkley on Rowley Green Lane and Arkley Lane.
For a slice of normality, there are patches of Victorian terraces, like those on Falkland Road. Keep travelling further south and east, and you will be met with affordable suburban semis. New Barnet and Oakleigh Park are nice family areas, as well as Lyonsdown. For cheaper property, head towards Cockfosters.
The impressive mansions in Barnet tend to sell for an average of £5 million, with the slightly less expansive detached homes coming in between £900,000 and £2.5 million. Semis, £400,000 to £1.2 million. Detached homes, £650,000 to £900,000. Terraces and cottages, £375,000 to £625,000. Flats, £250,000 to £600,000. Rentals: one-bed flats, £850-£1,250pcm; three-bed houses, £1,500-£2,500pcm.

Queen Elizabeth’s is an ‘outstanding’ boy’s grammar school in Barnet, including a sixth form. Totteridge Academy and Jewish Community are ‘good’ in the eyes of Ofsted. Jewish Community secondary school is dedicated to providing a comprehensive Jewish education. Ivrit (Modern Hebrew) is compulsory in Year 7 and 8, with many students carrying the language on to GCSE level.
