Living in Evesham

The genteel centre of Evesham is home to a mix of medieval and Georgian properties, particularly around the north and on Port Street. If you can see yourself living in a period townhouse or terrace, Burford Road’s offerings are snapped up quickly. The suburbs in the north (Greenhill) and west (Elm Road, Broadway Road, and Hampton) are considered to be the nicest and perfect for families.

If you want to get your hands on a huge period detached home, be prepared to spend between £350,000 and £650,000. However, there are delightful detached homes and period townhouses in the £185,000 to £350,000 bracket. Semis tend to fall between £120,000 and £320,000 dependent on location, number of bedrooms, and condition. Terraces, the smaller of which make great starter homes, are on the market for prices between £115,000 and £250,000. Flats start at £95,000.

If you would prefer to rent in Evesham before laying down roots, one-bed flats start just shy of £500 pcm, rising to £625 for a two-bed flat or terraced house. Family terraces up upwards of £750 pcm, and semis tend to be £850 pcm. Lovely family detached homes are usually over £1000 pcm.

Schools in Evesham

Evesham is well known for its educational facilities and is served by schools for all ages, with excellent Ofsted results. There are some ‘good’ primaries in Evesham, including Swan Lane, St Andrew’s CofE, with Benegeworth having some ‘outstanding’ features.

St Egwin’s CofE is a secondary school that is ‘good and improving’ and Evesham High is also ‘good’. A favourite amongst parents is Prince Henry’s High, which is ‘outstanding’ according to Ofsted.

Evesham Transport Links

The A46 which hugs the east of Evesham can get drivers to the M5 in around 20 minutes in good traffic. The Worcester to Oxford road (A44) tends to be sluggish, but can get commutes to Worcester in 30 minutes and Oxford in 1 hour if the traffic is kind.

Evesham railway station also has services to Worcester (22 minutes) and Oxford (1 hour) for those who do not fancy tackling the tarmac. Direct trains also run to Hereford (1 hour 23 minutes) and London Paddington (1 hour 56 minutes).
