Northamptonshire House Removals
Often described as The Rose of the Shires, Northamptonshire is a landlocked county at the heart of the UK. Residents can choose from two ways of living, or benefit from both. On the one hand, Northamptonshire offers a traditional rural lifestyle; pretty villages, thatched cottages and country lanes. In contrast, Northamptonshire offers many modern attractions and facilities for those who prefer a more cosmopolitan way of living.
Whether you choose to live in one of the large towns, or a small hamlet, Northamptonshire is home to some of the most beautiful countryside in England. There are miles upon miles of walks, cycle paths, and bridleways through the many country parks, woodlands, and nature reserves.
Moving to Northamptonshire
Northampton is the county town of Northamptonshire and dates back to the Saxon period. However, much of the medieval architecture was destroyed by a fire in 1675 so, today, the majority of period buildings are Georgian. Northampton is loved for its markets and 19th century cathedral.
Kettering is just north of Northampton and is historically known as a famous shoe manufacturing town, with production at its peak in the 19th century.
Wellingborough dates back to the 6th century, and the oldest building in the town is the 12th century All Hallows Church. Residents particularly like Wellingborough for its great shopping facilities and markets.
Rushden is all about history and notable attractions include Rushden Museum and Rushden Transport Museum. Both museums paint a picture of the local history of the town, particularly in relation to vehicles. Even the local council reside in a historical building – Rushden Hall.
Daventry is home to the popular Daventry Country Park, which is a popular location for bird watching and fishing. The town itself has fantastic links to the M1 motorway, and is home to numerous weekly markets.
Corby is located in the northeast of Northamptonshire. Corby Boating Lake is a popular day out for families, as swans, ducks, and other waterfowl bobs amongst the boats.
The Britannia office is located in the south of Northamptonshire, in the town of Brackley. The team offer a second-to-none removals service, tailored to each individual customer, as well as a variety of storage options. Britannia is perfectly located to help anyone in Northamptonshire, and the surrounding counties.
Days out in Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire has always held strong links with nobility and this is reflected in the beautiful stately homes and gardens throughout the county. They are a great location for a family day out, enjoying the gardens and parkland, as well as exploring the houses that have witnessed remarkable historical moments. Boughton House is one of Britain’s grandest and best preserved stately homes and located just outside of Kettering. As well as the stunning house, visitors can also meander through the 18th-century landscaped gardens, or take part in a guided tour. Another incredible structure is Cottesbrooke Hall in Northampton. It is a Grade I listed property dating back to 1702.
If museums and historical structures won’t keep the younger generation entertained, there are a number of family orientated attractions. Cotswold Wildlife Park is a hop across the border into Oxfordshire and is home to over 260 animal species. Families can stroll around the park and enjoy uninterrupted views of the animals or hop on and off the miniature train that runs around the park. For a truly unique animal experience, a day out at Catanger Llamas could be ideal for your family. Visitors can take part in a half-day or summer evening trek with their own llama, and stop off for a picnic or lunch at a quaint local pub.
If you enjoy the outdoors and simply want a beautiful place to cycle, walk the dog, or have a picnic, Northamptonshire has a number of award winning country parks. Daventry County Park is a real hit with both waterside and woodland walks, with nature trails weaving through the nature reserve. Hunsbury Hill Country Park is another nature reserve, with picnic sites, playing fields, adventure playground, and children’s activity areas.
