Transport Links in Lewes
Lewes has always been an important transport hub and Lewes railway station was originally the junction for six routes. The town benefits from two trains per hour travelling to London Victoria. The Lewes to Brighton train takes a swift 16 minutes and there are five services per hour. The East Coastway Line connects Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings and Seaford with Lewes.
Lewes benefits from reduced traffic, with the A27 trunk road taking traffic along the south coast between Eastbourne and Southampton, bypassing the town. The A26 from Maidstone to Newhaven and the A275 (the London road) both come in from the north.
Lewes is serviced by the Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company, with routes 28 and 29 connecting the town with the coast.
