Moving to Ellesmere

Often referred to as The Lake District of Shropshire, Ellesmere is a beautiful market town. Extremely traditional, with a mix of Tudor, Georgian, and Victorian architecture, it is steeped in history.

Many visitors and new residents will notice that Ellesmere is rich with canals. The Ellesmere Canal saw the town proposer and grow in the early 1900’s and, today, it is a hub for the booming canal tourist industry. Back in the day, Ellesmere was a noisy industrial town, whereas now it is a peaceful rural haven.

There is a mix of period and contemporary architecture in Ellesmere and residents are spoilt for choice when it comes to new homes. Those looking to buy a flat in Ellesmere will be hard-pushed to secure a property of this nature as the majority are for retirees. However, quaint two-bed terraces start at £119,999.  Larger three-bed semis are on the market for prices over £135,000 and detached homes start at £160,000.

Due to Ellesmere being relatively small, there are not a huge amount of rental properties. Flats tend to fetch around £400 pcm, rising to £450 pcm for two-bed terraces. Semi-detached rental homes rarely come on the rental market, but there are often a handful of detached family homes which range between £650 pcm and £1,400 pcm.
