Both Queensferry and St Ethelwold’s are ‘adequate’ schools, whereas Bryn Deva, Wepre, Brookfield, Golftyn, Venerable Edward Morgan, Shotton, Sealand, and Sandycroft are all ‘good’ in the eyes of Estyn.
There are only three secondary schools in Deeside. Connah’s Quay High School (‘good’), John Summers High School (‘good’), St David’s High School (‘good’).
Deeside Transport Links
Deeside sits just shy of the M56 and M53, easily accessible via the multitude of A roads serving the area. Chester is just a 20-minute drive away and Liverpool is accessed in under 40 minutes.
Deeside’s railway station closed in 1967 but there are rumours circulating that it will be reopened. The nearest train station is Flint – 15 minutes’ drive or easily accessed by bus. Services from Flint railway station run to Manchester Piccadilly, Llandudno, Birmingham International, Cardiff Central, and Holyhead.
