Due to such a diverse mix of properties, there is something to suit everybody in St Helens, and properties are not on the market for long. Properties on the Kingsley and Hartington Roads are particularly sought after, with large Victorian and Edwardian houses gracing the avenues with price tags of £500,000 to £650,000. Schools in St Helens
As well as several wonderful nurseries in St Helens, there are some excellent primary schools. Before securing a place for your child, parents should conduct research into which primary schools feed into secondary schools. St Teresa’s Catholic Primary is good, as is St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary, but with ‘outstanding’ features. Bleak Hill Primary is ‘outstanding’ across the board according to Ofsted.
There a number of secondary schools in St Helens, but some performed better in their latest Ofsted inspections than others. There were five schools awarded ‘good’ from Ofsted; Cowley International College, Haydock High School, Rainford High Technology College, Rainhill High School, and St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School.
Transport Links St Helens
St Helens has a number of local and regional bus routes, with the vast majority running through the town centre.
The town has several A roads which connect to the M58 in the north, M6 in the east, M62 in the south, and M57 in the west. Liverpool is just a half hour drive away and Manchester can be accessed in 46 minutes.
St Helens Central railway station serves the area. From Monday to Saturday there are half -hourly local services to Liverpool Lime Street, Wigan North Western, and an hourly fast service from Liverpool South Parkway which continues through to Preston. On Sundays, there is a semi-fast service every hour between Liverpool and Blackpool North via Preston.
