Ledbury is a small medieval market town Located in Herefordshire, with a population that hovers around 9,000! On the flanks of the Malvern Hills, it is hard to believe that the town is just a stone’s throw from the M5. Popular with commuters who want to escape the stress of their day jobs, Ledbury provides an idyllic and quiet slice of the Hertfordshire countryside.

The property market in Ledbury is full of some incredible properties. Period country homes and mansions occasionally grace estate agent’s windows for prices well over £1 million. Families seeking a detached family home with four or more bedrooms should have a budget somewhere between £300,000 and £600,000. Three-bed semis start around £220,000 and there are some great listed buildings available nearer the £250,000 mark.  Terraced homes start at £150,000 and flats, £120,000.

If you would prefer to rent in Ledbury you may be hard pushed to find a property. Usually there are only a handful available and rarely is there anything larger than a two bed terraced home.

Schools in Ledbury

There are six primary schools in Ledbury (some on the outskirts) and parents will be extremely pleased with the calibre of facilities. Bromberrow CofE and Ledbury Primary are ‘good’ according to Ofsted. Eastnor, Ashperton, Bosbury CofE and Much Marcle Cof E are all ‘outstanding’.

John Masefield High School is the only state secondary in Ledbury and also has a sixth form. It was awarded a rating of ‘good’ in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Some claim Herefordshire to be one of the most inaccessible counties but Ledbury, despite its size, offers some strong transport links. The M50 is six miles south of the town, which connects drives to the M5 in around 20 minutes. This means the likes of Worcester and Cheltenham are a 30-minute drive away.

The local railway station is on the outskirts in the north of Ledbury and has two platforms. Aside from Christmas Day and Boxing Day, there are passenger services passing through Ledbury every day. The typical Monday to Saturday off-peak service comprises of one train per hour in each direction between Birmingham New Street and Hereford. There are more trains during peak hours.

There are also five services Monday to Friday (each way) between London Paddington and Hereford. These trains are operated by First Great Western.
