Congratulations to Laura Johns (Britannia Lanes of Cornwall) on her becoming a finalist for the UK’s Self-Storage Manager of the Year organised by the UKSSA (UK Self-Storage Association). The UKSSA awards will be held on 7th September with Lanes nominated in two categories; Best Self storage facility and Best self storage manager. The winners will be entered into the European awards, which will be announced at the FEDESSA Conference in Paris running from 26th to 28th September, involving 550 delegates from 28 countries.
Laura Johns joined the company in May 2016 to become their Self-Store Manager following Matt Lane’s promotion to General Manager/Operations Manager earlier that year. Laura has made real progress since taking on her role at Lanes of Cornwall, firstly with overseeing ground works of 1,320sqm with two service roads to accommodate a further 60 drive up units as part of the company’s refurbishment and expansion plans. Her challenge for this additional storage was to reach 70% occupancy within 12 months, which she impressively achieved in 4 months, with an ongoing occupancy of 85%-90%.
Following her attendance of the self-storage conference in Berlin last year she has come away from the event with plenty of passion and ideas to increase storage occupancy and improve the companies Google reviews. Laura sends each customer an email with a link to Google Reviews and a photo of herself with a personal request to review her and their experience of using Britannia Lanes Self Store. She has a great ability to build relationships with customers which has increased to number of new customers and returning customers using our facilities.
Laura’s position as a finalist for this award is well deserved and Mark Lane (Director) has high hopes for her ongoing achievements within Britannia Lanes of Cornwall.
