Britannia Reeves celebrates 125 year milestone
Reeves was founded in 1897 and is celebrating 125 years in the removals business this year.
Over the last 125 years Britannia Reeves has had the privilege of carrying out many prestigious moves, including Windsor Castle, Beachy Head Lighthouse, the Bodleian Library, and also moving the composer Sir William Harris to Petersfield.
To celebrate this huge milestone, we sponsored the South Downs Show where we showcased our vehicles and hosted a series of fun activities for the public.
As a thank you to the people of Petersfield and the surrounding areas, we provided free activities to all of the shows’ attendees. Children were able to visit their ‘toddler village’, packing up boxes and moving toys from house to house. After that they could go and have their faces painted and then explore inside the adrenaline filled caving experience. Meanwhile, the adults were able to test their aim with the laser clay pigeon shooting followed by snacks and refreshments in the VIP tent. The event was an enormous success and a great opportunity to get the Britannia Reeves name even more widely known within the local community.
Reeves was founded in 1897 by John Arthur Reeves and originally started as a Rag & Bone merchants and general haulier. Through the years the business was passed down through the family and continued to expand and thrive.
In the early 60’s our first warehouse was built on our initial base on Sussex Road, Petersfield, with the first container store being added in the early 80’s and a second being built in 1998.
In 1996 Reeves joined Britannia and since then we have greatly enlarged our fleet and facilities.
We built our first self-store in 2014 and the second in 2020.
We have covered a variety of operations over the years, including removals, storage, tipper trucks, general haulage, sand and ballast merchants and even snow ploughing for the local council. However, we now firmly specialise in all types of removals and storage!
Here’s to another 125 years in service.
