About Folkestone

Folkestone is a port town in Kent, on the English Channel. It lies on the southern edge of the North Downs, between two cliffs. Folkestone has had a settlement since the stone age and has a history of being an important shipping port and harbour throughout the 19th and 20th century. It still retains its shipping links to this day but has also flourished as an artsy seaside resort town.

Folkstone’s Creative Quarter in the old town is home to artists, and independent creative businesses and boutiques. Folkestone also has regular bus services connecting the town to Kent and East Sussex. Routes include to Canterbury, Dover, Hastings, Ashford and Maidstone.
