Is Port Talbot a nice place to live?
Port Talbot is a town in south Wales on the east side of Swansea Bay, around 8 miles from Swansea. It’s home to the Port Talbot Steelworks, one of the biggest steelworks in the world, which covers a large portion land to the south-east of town. The town has a rich history, with museums across the town that document it, including the South Wales Miners’ Museum and the Margam Stones Museum.
The town has plenty of that characteristic Welsh beauty, with golden sandy beaches and rolling green hills, with many walking routes and trails to explore. Port Talbot has plenty of amenities, including restaurants, takeaways, independent shops, and major high street brands, plus a hospital. There’s also local rugby teams and football teams, and many parks and playing fields within the town.
Port Talbot has its own railway station, with regular services to Cardiff (taking around 40 minutes), Carmarthen (taking over an hour) and London Paddington (taking two and a half hours). The area is also well served by buses, with routes to Swansea, Llanelli, and coaches going further afield to Birmingham and London. Driving to Swansea takes just 20 minutes and to Cardiff takes 45 minutes.
