Moving to Crawley

Crawley is considered a great place to purchase a home, particularly for first-time buyers who require access to London for work. With excellent transport links and being a stone’s throw away from Gatwick, Crawley is a very desirable place to live. Commuting to London and Brighton is extremely easy, with a 24-hour service from Three Bridges to London Victoria and Brighton.

Crawley town centre boasts excellent shopping facilities, and is a much loved destination for those wanting to dine out, or hit the dancefloors. If you fancy something a little more subdued, Tilgate Park is a gem of tranquillity, with a small zoo, boating lake, and golf course.

Schools in Crawley

Crawley is made up of thirteen boroughs, and there are 26 primary schools spanning these different areas. The top three primary schools are Hilltop, Our Lady Queen of Heaven RC, and St Francis of Assisi RC. Hilltop and Our Lady are ‘good with outstanding features’, whereas St Francis is the most popular, given an overall ‘outstanding’ grade from Ofsted.

There are also three exemplary secondary schools in Crawley. Hazelwick and Holy Trinity CofE are extremely popular. However, places at St Wilfrid’s are sought after and with a glowing report from Ofsted; ‘good with outstanding features’.

Crawley Transport Links

Crawley benefits from having three train stations; Crawley, Three Bridges, and Ifield. They are all located on the Redhill route, direct to London Victoria. This line runs between Horsham and London. This line takes in major destinations such as Gatwick Airport, Redhill, East Croydon and Clapham Junction, also branching off to London Bridge as a terminus.

Crawley and Three Bridges stations are also serviced by the Mainline West route, starting at the coast and terminating at London Victoria. This route does not take in Redhill, but does include Gatwick Airport, East Croydon and Clapham Junction. The Brighton Mainline route is excellent for commuters, with a fast service between Brighton, Crawley, and London Victoria.

The road network in Crawley is excellent, with the M23 linking the town to the M25 ring road with just a 10-minute journey time. Gatwick Airport is just 5 to 10 minutes away, perfect for frequent flyers.

Bus travel in Crawley is also championed by locals, with buses having priority over cars at traffic lights.
