Schools in Tamworth
There are numerous primary schools in and around Tamworth but there are three that stand out. They are all co-educational facilities for those aged four to 11. Florendine Primary and St Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary are both ‘good’ in the eyes of Ofsted whereas St Andrew’s CofE is ‘outstanding’.
The Polesworth School caters to children aged three to 18 and was given Academy status in 2011. Complete with sixth form, the school is ‘outstanding’ across all criteria according to Ofsted. Landau Forte Academy and Sixth Form is located in Amington, a suburb of Tamworth.
Transport Links Tamworth
Tamworth railway station is comprised of four platforms. Platforms one and two carry West Coast Main Line services whilst platforms three and four are for Cross Country trains. Westbound services from platform one head to Crewe, whereas platform two is where passengers alight for Northampton or London. Platform thee has northbound services to Derby and beyond and platform four has trains to Birmingham.
Tamworth sits just north of a bypass which connects to major motorways and A roads in the east and west. The M42 is in the east and M6 (Toll) to the west. Birmingham is a 30-minute drive away in good traffic, Coventry is 40 minutes away and Leicester 50 minutes.
