Schools in Durham

The Durham area is saturated with ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ schools, but the highest ranked by Ofsted are Edmondsley, St Michael’s RC, St Godric’s RC, Coxhoe, and Shincliffe CofE.
Equally, there are some impressive secondary schools. St Leonard’s is ‘good’, whereas Durham Johnston Comprehensive and Durham Business College are both ‘outstanding’.

Durham sits in the middle of a triangle of A roads and the A1(M) is just a stone’s throw away to the east. There are a multitude of local and regional buses to get students, professionals, and families to where they need to be.
Durham railway station provides direct services to Newcastle Central (14 mins), Edinburgh Waverley (1 hour 54 mins), London King’s Cross (2 hours 59 mins), York (45 mins), Reading (4 hours 22 mins), Birmingham (2 hours 38 mins), Plymouth (7 hours), and Leeds (1 hour 12 mins).
