East Kilbride is the largest town in South Lanarkshire, and also the first designated ‘New Town’ of Scotland in 1947. Areas were becoming cramped, so East Kilbride was developed to house people moving from nearby Glasgow.

Langlands Moss is a local nature reserve, a favourite for families who enjoy the outdoors – and wildlife!

The National Museum of Rural Life, located in nearby Kittochside, gives visitors a great insight into 1950’s life in East Kilbride. East Kilbride Transport Links

East Kilbride has a train station with trains running twice hourly to Glasgow Central. These services are direct and journey time takes half an hour. To get to Edinburgh, passengers need to change trains, and journeys take roughly 2 hours.

There are many main roads that connect East Kilbride to Glasgow and the M77 motorway. Commuting to Glasgow by car will take around 25 minutes, but this will be longer during rush hour traffic. There are also a number of bus services running across East Kilbride and Greater Glasgow.

Glasgow Airport is a 20-minute drive away from East Kilbride and has numerous flights nationally and to destinations in Europe. There are also flights to America, the Caribbean, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, and Africa.
