Those who stroll the river may come across Abingdon Lock, which is the oldest surviving lock chamber in the UK.

Transport Links Abingdon

Sadly, Abingdon does not have its own train station. The nearest is two miles away in Radley, and there are a number of buses linking Abingdon to this station. There is a car park at this station, but it only has spaces for 35 cars. There are hourly slow trains to Oxford and Didcot (11 minutes), and Reading is accessible in four minutes. For those wanting accelerated connections, it is best to hop on trains in Oxford or Didcot.

Although Oxford is just two miles north of Abingdon, the traffic can be horrendous so it is best to take public transport. The nearby A34 can get drivers to the M40 in half an hour and the M4 in 45 minutes.
