Overview

Having been established in the Malaga area since 1978, Britannia Southern (atn Southern Storage and Removals) is, by far, the longest serving British owned moving company on the Costa del Sol. As an international associate member of the British Association of Removers, the largest established and most recognised association for the removals industry in the United Kingdom, we must meet strict standards and agree to regular inspection to make sure that the facilities, equipment, staff training and operational procedures remain at the highest level. Britannia Southern is also a member of the Asociacion Malagueña de Empresas de Mudanzas(AMEM), a provincial trade association whose members meet regularly to discuss ways of improving our industry locally.

History

Andrew Riley, a tea merchant originally from Lancaster (Lancashire, England) started the business with his wife Anne in the late 70’s with one small van and a modest warehouse in Fuengirola. The emphasis in the early years was on storage, hence the name Southern Storage. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s the business evolved into distribution and also overseas shipping. In March 2003 BAR membership was achieved and the following year Southern Storage and Removals joined the Britannia group to become the appointed representative for Andalusia. In 2008, in anticipation of Andrew Riley’s retirement, Mudanzas Britania SL was formed thus becoming a Spanish limited company. With an ample fleet of vehicles, a dedicated work force and an impressive fully containerised warehouse in Mijas Costa Britannia Southern is, without doubt, one of the leading removal and storage companies on the Costa del Sol.
