Moving to West Yorkshire
With an area steeped in so much history, it is no surprise that there is a variety of period properties in West Yorkshire. From quaint cottages and warehouse conversions, to Victorian terraces and Edwardian villas, there is something to suit those on the hunt for a slice of history. However, there are also a multitude of new-build apartments and homes.
Leeds has undergone huge regeneration and there are countless new build apartments which are popular with professionals as they are close to the amenities, transport links, and entertainment of the city centre. More often than not, they are trendy and minimalist. However, the city is also home to numerous warehouse conversions and large homes, some of which have been split in to flats for student accommodation.
If new build homes are your cup of tea, the bustling town of Castleford (just 25 minutes from Leeds) has many. The Poppy Grange development on the outskirts is a vast new estate with a variety of apartments and family appropriate homes. The complex is very popular due to proximity to local schools, an array of everyday amenities, and excellent transport links.
If you want to get your foot on the ladder in West Yorkshire and aren’t captivated by modern properties, there are a plethora of traditional terraced homes. There are often more affordable than flats and apartments, and present great scope for extensions and redevelopment as families grow.
If this appeals to you, the areas of Huddersfield, Pudsey, and Keighley would be a great place to start your search. The towns and surrounding villages are rich with terraces, as well as older semidetached and detached homes, and sit comfortably in most people’s budgets.
If you have a substantial budget and are after larger homes in an affluent area, visit Eccleshill, Allerton, Marsden, Giggleswick, Linthwaite, Ripponden, or Norwood Green.
