However, Masham CofE Primary is ‘outstanding’.
There are three secondary schools in Ripon; Ripon Grammar School, Outwood Academy, and Spring Hill School. Spring Hill is a residential and day school for children with autism or related conditions and is ranked ‘good’ by Ofsted. Outwood Academy is a small school of just 600 pupils and includes a sixth form. It was ranked as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. Ripon Grammar School is a co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 11 to 18. To join the school, children must sit exams.

Ripon is just shy of the A1(M) and Harrogate is just a 25-minute drive away. Ripon is served by a multitude of local and regional bus services which makes getting around extremely easy.
Ripon railway station closed to passengers in 1967. The nearest train station is a 25-minute drive away is Knaresborough. Monday to Sunday services run half-hourly to Leeds (46 mins) and hourly to York (29 mins).
