Moving to Wrexham

Those who live in Wrexham benefit from being able to strike a great balance between rural and urban living. Whilst the town centre boasts all the usual high street favourites and amenities, the Welsh hills are just a 20-minute drive away. Equally, the city of Chester is just a short drive or train journey away too.

Properties in Wrexham

Wrexham is a very popular residential area in Wales and, for this reason, both the rental and sales market are very buoyant. There are countless unique period properties hailing from Wrexham’s industrial history, as well as new builds dotting up for those who prefer something modern.

Wrexham Attractions

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct was built over two hundred years ago to allow for the east transportation of products and raw materials in and out of the Cefn Mawr area. The incredible structure stands 200ft above the river dee and is a route enjoyed by locals and holiday makers alike. Visitors can walk, cycle or enjoy a canal boat across it which is a very popular pastime in the summer months.

Just outside of Wrexham is the 13th century Valle Crucis Abbey. Only its impressive ruins remain after it was destroyed when Henry VIII split from the Catholic church. However, the remains have been preserved extremely well and it is a great opportunity to see how the Monks lived during their time there.

Now under protection of the National Trust, Erddig Hall is a magnificent 18th century country house just outside of Wrexham centre. Visitors can explore the rooms of the mansion, as well as the gardens and out buildings. Perhaps the most famous residents of Erddig, Jerry and Claire the shire horses, are much loved by visitors.

Transport Links Wrexham

Wrexham benefits from having two train stations; Wrexham Central and Wrexham General. From Wrexham Central there is an hourly service to Shotton and Bidston during normal off-peak hours. Many people travel to Bidston for connecting services to Liverpool Lime Street, Hamilton Square and Birkenhead North. Wrexham General is the main station and is much busier. The normal off-peak hourly service pattern comprises of one train to Holyhead via Chester, one train to Cardiff Central, one train to Birmingham International and 1 train to Bidston.  There are trains to London Euston and Chester during peak hours.

Wrexham lies just east of the A483 which connects all the way down to the M4 and Swansea in South Wales. Other important roads near Wrexham include the A534 and A5. The A534 connects drivers to the M6 which is around an hour’s drive away.
