Moving to Heaton
Heaton is a district and suburb in Newcastle upon Tyne, about 2 miles east of the city centre. Heaton Park is a hub for the district, with open green space to walk and picnic. The park is also an events space, holding Heaton Festival every summer which sees around 10,000 attendees and features live music, creative writing sessions, and local food stalls.
Heaton has a lot of Edwardian and Victorian property, bringing period charm and character features. There are also a lot of semi-detached homes built in the 20th century, plus more modern developments across the town. Heaton is part of the Tyne and Wear Metro network, with a few stations around the area. There are regular services to Newcastle and Gateshead. The nearest national rail station is Manors Railway Station, with regular services to Newcastle, Carlisle, and Morpeth. Newcastle Station is a 15-minute drive from Heaton, with regular services to London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Plymouth.
Driving to Newcastle City Centre takes just 10 minutes, or it can be walked in around 35 minutes. Driving to Whitley Bay from Heaton takes 20 minutes.
