Barnes is a district in South London and is part of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Known as Barnes village, it offers residents a peaceful way of life and close-knit community feel that still has central London just a short 30-minute journey away. Barnes has plenty of local amenities, including independent boutiques, local grocers, and excellent eateries.
The area has plenty of green open spaces, including the WWT London Wetland Centre nature reserve with plenty of seasonal wildlife to observe. There’s also Barnes Green and Barnes Common, plus the Leg O Mutton nature reserve right by the River Thames, with plenty of walking routes and trails to explore.
Barnes isn’t on the London Underground network, but it does have two National Rail stations, Barnes and Barnes Bridge, both in London’s Travelcard Zone 3. Trains mainly go eastwards, to Chiswick, Brentford and Hounslow, as well as to Central London at Waterloo. There are also services from Barnes station that travel southwest to Teddington and Kingston. Barnes is also well served by bus routes, including London Buses 33, 209, 265, 375, 419, 485, 533, and N22. These include services to Fulwell, Putney Bridge, Romford, Richmond, and Hammersmith.
Barnes has plenty of great schools both within Barnes itself and close by in local areas.
