Heckington Show

Founded in 1863, people flock to Heckington Show, which is the largest village show in England. Schools in Heckington

Heckington has just one school, ST Andrews CofE primary school. It opened in the 1830s and has been providing education to the younger generation in Heckington ever since. The school was awarded ‘good’ by Ofsted in its latest report and the school usually has only around 200 students.

Luckily, Heckington falls within the catchment area of the three schools in neighbouring Sleaford; all three have a sixth form and are rated ‘good’ by Ofsted. St George’s Academy is the only non-selective secondary school and has two sites; one in Sleaford and one in Ruskington. The other two schools are grammar schools and children are required to sit the Eleven plus exam to secure a place. Kesteven and Sleaford High School is a female grammar school, and Carres is a boys only grammar school.

Transport Links Heckington

Heckington is located off the A17, providing easy access to Grantham (30 mins) and Boston (20 mins). The cities of Lincoln and Peterborough can both be accessed by car in under an hour.

Heckington railway station comprises of two platforms and a small period station building. The station is unstaffed and there are limited facilities. Trains run hourly to Nottingham (1 hour 18 mins) via Grantham (37 mins) and Skegness (59 mins). For those wanting to travel further afield, connecting trains to the likes of London Kings Cross, Norwich, and Leeds can be caught from Grantham.
