8 Reasons Why You Should Consider Studying Abroad

Studying abroad is a liberating experience and has a lot of benefits for those considering it. The prospects of up and leaving your home country to go and venture into the world can be a scary thought, but the culture you learn, the places you see and the different people you meet make leaving the comforts of home worthwhile. Not forgetting to mention the diverse learning techniques you will be exposed to whilst studying abroad which will give you a depth of knowledge not only in the subject field you are learning but how different countries/cultures teach. If you have found yourself daydreaming of exploring the world but studying also, then you have no reason as to why you shouldn’t be considering studying abroad – but just in case, this article outlines 8 reasons why you should REALLY consider studying abroad.

#1 Travel

If travel is important to you, then studying abroad is a must. What better thing to do than to study whilst doing something you love? Although it can be stressful being away from home, the excitement of finding out new ways to study, relax and experience the beauty of travelling makes the stress worth it. However, studying abroad means you will probably only study in one other country – but it does give you more of an international mindset, which employers (especially global/international) will find attractive in a potential employer.

#2 Language Skills

By studying in another country you can really enhance your language skills, and if you are studying in a country that doesn’t use your own language, it will be easier to pick up on the country’s language as you will hear it quite a lot. Language skills are appealing to potential employers, so this could be the perfect time to scratch up on your language skills whilst embracing the other differences in the country you may study in.

#3 Experience

The experience you will gain from studying abroad is priceless. You will experience so many different and new things, it may seem quite daunting, but embrace this fact of studying abroad and understand that it is one of the beauties of spreading your wings. The experience of living away from home, studying in a new place and meeting new people will give you great foundations for personal development.

#4 Career Opportunity

Another reason why you should really consider studying abroad is the career opportunities that come from it. The international contribution to your CV will transform how you are perceived by a potential employer.

#5 Personal Development

Going it alone can be a scary idea, but studying abroad will give you so much opportunity, not to mention personal development. Experiencing independence in a new country is a big step, but one that should be welcomed with open arms and a thirst to learn new things.

#6 Culture

Studying abroad will give you the advantage of getting to know a new culture intimately. Different cultures are beautiful and insightful into the country’s way of life. The culture may be centered around religion or the people’s love for music. Every country has a different culture due to many different factors. Learn about the culture and take this knowledge with you, you never know, their culture may just inspire you.

#7 Make Lifelong Friends

Making lifelong friends is a definite given when you decide to study abroad. There are so many people you will meet, and other people who are also in your boat of deciding to take the plunge and study abroad. One of the beauties of studying abroad is the connections you make with people, these are unforgettable.

#8 Learn Differently

Studying abroad gives you the option to learn differently. When you go to another country to study you need to take into consideration that their teaching styles and modules may be different, but this is a huge positive. It will give diversity to your learning and will broaden your knowledge on the subject through the different teaching style techniques.
