Driver Career – Aaron Palmer

Aaron has worked for Britannia Bradshaw Removals as a driver since May 2016 – but he has actually been in the industry since he was 13 years old! Aaron would often spend his school holidays helping his dad, who worked in removals, so he could earn some extra pocket money. When Aaron left school, he then joined his dad working in the removals business. At first, he was simply following in his dad’s footsteps. However, he quickly developed a real appreciation for the industry.

Some of Aaron’s best memories are of early trips to Europe working with his dad. One such trip was to Benalmádena in Spain, where they moved a British couple to a new life as bar owners. Aaron and his dad enjoyed themselves so much that they returned to Benalmádena for a holiday, and even visited their customers’ bar!

Before long, Aaron became a professional driver like his dad. When he started with Britannia Bradshaw, they helped put him through the months of training required to get his Class 1 HGV license, so he can now drive category C + E vehicles. This means that he’s qualified to drive the company’s rigid truck and trailer, known in the industry as a wagon and drag – but Aaron much prefers an 18-tonne truck.

Aaron has now been in the industry for 22 years, and still enjoys removals as much as those early summers. He loves that every day is different, and no two jobs will be the same. He also likes working in different locations, including overseas removals across France and Spain.

The strangest thing Aaron has ever been asked to move was a 6ft tall, very heavy carved elephant sculpture! Hot tubs also prove a regular challenge in his removal jobs. On the other hand, one of the highlights of the job for Aaron is helping to ship customers’ sports cars. Recently, Britannia Bradshaw was asked to carry out an overseas move for a high-profile customer, which included getting a Dodge Hellcat safely packed into a shipping container. There was a long line of volunteers who wanted to drive the car that day!
