The generous knitting ladies of the Rotary Club have been very busy knitting much needed warm clothing for children in Africa. Following all of their hard work, we are pleased to announce that the knitwear packages have finally arrived at their final destination.
The knitwear is for the young children in the Drakensburg Mountains of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, where it gets very cold in winter – they even have snow at times and the pre-schools have little or more often, no heating.
There were long shipping delays due to the pandemic, but the shipment finally arrived, firstly at Port Elizabeth then onward to Cape Town and eventually by truck to the Cavern.
The pictures show the 2020 consignment arriving at the Cavern Berg Resort where they will be sorted and distributed to the children.
Megan Bedingham one of the owner managers is over the moon about the shipment. She emailed the very morning it arrived to say:
It was so lovely to receive the goodies. They are always so gorgeous! Beautifully made and we can just see that a whole lot of love goes into this work! Our little people will be beyond thrilled. The boxes were couriered to the Cavern from Cape Town.
Please pass our thanks on to Mike Bell and all the knitting ladies!
Mike Bell is the removals manager at Devereaux Shipping on Teesside who packed the boxes and shipped to Cape Town, free of charge.
