Planning permission has been approved now, and Matt Collingborn tells HB that building works are scheduled to start this July, with the plan to open the new site in February 2017.
Their new building will be raised by 1 metre as a flood defence against any possible flooding in the area, and this ultra-modern warehouse will be based over 5 floors (28,000 sqft) holding 650 containers stacked 5 high, plus 3,358 sqft of office space including a work chill out area to allow staff an area of tranquillity when they need it.
In addition, the new warehouse will have a canopy across the length of the loading bay area for loading and unloading without fear of getting drenched in the rain. There will be a 24hr drive up self-storage facility of 14 units with number plate recognition and swipe card access for customers. Another facility that they are going to provide are 4 trade counter units and 3 trade counters for small start-up businesses to rent to trade from and also have their own storage unit for goods, this will fantastic for local “bedroom start-ups” to progress their businesses further.
The new building looks and sounds fantastic, and HB look forward to reporting on Britannia Lanes of Devon’s new facilities, with photos in 2017.
