Planning and moving this summer

As we look forward to the summer ahead it should be noted that this is also the main time of year that people look to move house and here at Britannia Lanes we are prepared for it. We thought that it would be helpful if we could share our knowledge with everyone to make the moving process as simple as possible.

The following are a few tips that we have found over the years helps make sure that our clients get a good service and one that matches their budget with no nasty surprises.

Planning Your Move

When putting your house on the market it’s often a good idea to declutter and place some goods into selfstore to assist in the sale of your property.  This allows the prospective purchaser to see the house at its best and will also allow any remedial works to be done prior to the sale or letting.  We can assist, by moving the effects into store using our Man & Van service or with our SelfDRIVE van hire for moving things, our HomeSHRED shredding service to dispose of unnecessary documents and our  SelfSTORE facilities to store the bits and pieces in.  We can even offer 4 weeks free storage on 25 square foot SelfSTORE units for decluttering as long as you are moving with us.

As the time between exchange and completion has reduced greatly we recommend that as soon as the sale of the house is agreed (pending contracts), that you get someone round to do a quotation for your moving costs.  This will allow you to budget and prepare for your move and gain advice from our surveyor on aspects of your move which you may not have thought of.  It also means that you will not be worrying about getting a quote with just a week or two before you move.

Britannia Lanes are unique in Bridgwater, Bristol and the surrounding areas as at this stage they prepare a full inventory of the goods to be moved when they visit.  This means if there is a change of the goods to be moved it’s an easy process to add or subtract the relevant items and adjust the quote if required.

International moving is straight forward and we can deal with everything from a few boxes to whole house shipments to Europe, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the rest of the world.

Storage is easy with us and you have a choice of our award winning Steel Fire Safe containerised storage of our purpose built SelfSTORE.

Britannia Lanes have a FREE “Moving Guide”that you are welcome to call in and collect from the office which will help you to remember critical things during the moving process, You can also email us for this.  As you get closer to the move make sure that any packing you were planning is done ahead of time and things are ready for the move.

If you need any tips on packing please feel free to call us on 01278 447099 to discuss how and what materials you will require all of which are kept in stock.

On the day make sure that parking arrangements have been made at both properties, this will help you and the crew doing your move, have the tea and coffee ready and let us take the strain for you.
