Britannia Movers have been sponsoring local sports teams since the arrival of our head office in Reigate Borough in 2016. Since September 2019 Britannia have been sponsoring Reigate Hockey Club and while Covid19 unfortunately curtailed the end of the 2019-2020 season, they have started the new season off with a bang. Here’s an update from club chairman Andy Porter:
Reigate Hockey Club, sponsored by Britannia Movers International, have been working hard since lockdown came into place to ensure they are COVID safe and compliant with various guidelines to enable them to provide sport within the community. This has really helped people’s physical and mental health during these unprecedented times, where people have had to isolate away from friends and family over an extended period.
The club have had to appoint a “Club COVID Officer” who has been working tirelessly along with their full-time day job and family commitments, to voluntarily take on the responsibilities of this new role.
Seeing people back playing has shown the hard work and dedication of their volunteer staff has been worth it. Everyone is currently back training and playing matches for both our adult and junior sections. I also want to say a big thank you to Britannia for their ongoing support.
Five of our adult teams were promoted last season and all 11 of Reigate’s hockey teams have won most of their matches since the season started in September. The junior section has also started having matches as well on Sundays, alongside training, and many of the older youngsters continue to play adult hockey as well. Hopefully, the club’s members will be allowed to continue to exercise and play sport now that the new season has started.
