The right choice for your European move
As the largest moving network in the UK, Britannia Movers have over 40 UK branches so no matter where you are, we have a convenient location near you. We also have several overseas depots and have established long-standing relationships with a network of trusted partners across Europe. This enables us to ensure your move is tailored to your specific needs and supported by local expertise throughout your journey.
Britannia Movers are fully accredited members of the British Association of Removers Overseas Group, and all other major international removals trade bodies including FIDI and IAM. These organisations demand consistently high standards of service, operational methods, and sound financial standing. They also mean that we are fully bonded for all advance payments made by our clients, so you can rest assured that you are dealing with a market leader in European moving.
It starts with the survey
To provide the most appropriate moving package for you, Britannia will conduct a site survey of your property. This will allow us to meet you and discuss where you are going, what you are taking, and which type of moving service best suits your needs.
It can be in person or by video call, and will give you an opportunity to ask questions and allay any concerns you might have about the moving process.
Your surveyor will be happy to talk through all technical aspects of the move with you, such as transit times for your destination, importation requirements, insurance options and customs stipulations.
Packing for a European move
Britannia offers a comprehensive packing service that combines modern materials with traditional techniques to ensure your belongings have the safest possible journey.
Packing for an overseas move is a specialist skill and our experienced staff at every branch are equipped to provide this service if needed. Our team members are fully trained to the highest level, so whether we are packing your child’s favourite toy or your family heirlooms, you can be sure that your move is in safe hands.
For high-value, fragile or unique items like art and antiques, we can offer additional protection through custom-made wooden crates designed to keep these objects secure during transit. It’s important to point out such items to your surveyor.
Transport options for Europe
Dedicated or Part Load Service: Once your surveyor has evaluated the items you plan to move, they will discuss your options based on the volume of your belongings.
With a dedicated load service, a Britannia vehicle will exclusively carry your items and transport them directly to your new home.
If you’re moving a smaller number of possessions, you may prefer a part load service instead. With this option, your consignment will be one of several loaded on to a vehicle, and the crew will deliver to a number of destinations in one trip.
Assistance with customs documents
Britannia will assist you to complete the customs formalities. Our team members will supply and advise you on the appropriate import documentation. This will need to be completed before we can arrange the delivery of your goods.
There are numerous regulations and pieces of documentation to consider when moving within Europe, so it is important that you fully disclose any specialist or unusual items that Britannia should be aware of – for both specialist packing planning and also customs paperwork.
Depending on the destination, there are certain goods that are prohibited or require special preparation beforehand, and we can advise on these restrictions for the country you are moving to.
Detailed planning and communication
For over 40 years, Britannia has successfully moved household goods and personal belongings for thousands of customers across Europe. Our extensive experience has given us invaluable local knowledge, allowing us to navigate the unique challenges of each move smoothly and efficiently.
Detailed planning is vital. Many of our European trucks are very large, so the more information we can gather about details like gate posts and narrow or unmade roads will help ensure a smooth move. Details of long access routes or difficult stairways will also help us to plan properly for delivery and collection.
Storage Facilities
Britannia understands that storage may be necessary at some point during a European move so we have a number of options to suit you.
UK Storage: Britannia has over forty modern, secure containerised storage centres throughout the UK. Each centre offers a range of storage services with many being able to offer self storage, vehicle storage, and single or multiple item storage.
European Storage: With over 40 years experience moving our customers across Europe, we have built a trusted and extensive network of local partner companies. This allows Britannia to store your belongings safely and securely in modern storage centres across Europe.
Total Flexibility: Britannia’s network of storage centres throughout the UK and Europe gives you total flexibility, enabling you to time the delivery of your goods to suit your requirements.
